A Message from Chairman Terrence Murphy
Written by Terrence Murphy
Dear Parent:

We love our children and we aim to protect them. Last year, the New York State Legislature passed strict measures to keep sexual predators behind bars and in facilities geared towards keeping them off the streets and away from our children.

Unfortunately, parts of that legislation are currently hung up in the courts and therefore, our children are still not secure. Across the state, not willing to wait for the courts to move forward, municipalities and counties are taking proactive measures to protect their children from violent sexual predators.

Our legislators in the Westchester County Legislature have blatantly refused to follow suit. One of our county legislators, George Oros, has been working hard to finally get Westchester's Child Safety Zones legislation out of committee and up for a vote. As an organized group of parents in Westchester County, we are going to do everything we can this year, and next, to get this legislation passed immediately. The legislators standing against this proposal and those who are just sitting back should be equally ashamed.

Hoping to build a safe community where our children can play and learn without threat from sexual deviants, we are demanding action today! No longer will we allow legislators to play political games with our children's souls. Westchester's children should not be living in second class citizenship as compared to other counties where children are being protected against these malicious and sexually deviant criminals.

In fact, just to our north, Putnam County passed one of the most stringest Child Safety Laws in the nation to protect their children. Working alongside state legislators, local officials in Putnam County passed a law that made it very clear to sexual predators that they were not welcome in Putnam County. We are demanding that Westchester County immediately do the same.

United in cause;
